Abanindranath Tagore painted, not only with the brush on canvas, but also with words, and the effect is as magical as his paintings. He pioneered a simple, unique style of storytelling for children and his lyrical prose evokes vivid imagination on the canvas of the child's mind.
Inspired by his eminent uncle Rabindranath, Abanindranath flourished and exhibited his creative genius in almost everything that he did, from vocal and instrumental music, acting and stage building to painting - pictures and stories for children.
Rajkahini, Budo Angla, Nalak, and Khirer Putul are landmarks in Bengali children's literature.
