Paran, the loved and venerated actor with compelling presence in the big & small screen, stage theatre and the radio, had to wait till his retirement in 2000 to pursue his true calling. While working, he nurtured his real passion through participation in the IPTA (Indian People's Theatre Association) where he acted and even directed a handful of IPTA productions. He also performed in several audio dramas and got critical acclaim for his role in Ayna for Doordarshan in 1980.
After his retirement, he has acted in about 40 films, with phenomenal acclaim from viewers and critics. His ability of perfect portrayal of any character are exemplified in films like Dekha(2000), Sanjhbatir Rupkathara(2002), Gosainbaganer Bhoot (2011), Bhooter Bhabishyat(2012). The storytelling Tarini Khuro, the eccentric mathematics school teacher, the friendly 19th century ghost Nandadulal Nandy or the proud zamindar Darpa Narayan Chowdhury - the range is incredible.
Paran's talent in the world of talk theatre and audio drama is lesser known, but his command over modulation, diction and tonal control, combined with his ability to bring out the subtlest nuances makes him a complete voice artist.
In golpodadu.com, Paran transports us to the magical world of Upendrakishore - and soon we are in the midst of giants tussling for supremacy or dancing along with the boon granting ghosts, rescuing the sleeping princess or taming the man-eating tiger.
