Dwijen Bandyopadhyay

The world of Bangla theatre knew Dwijen Bandyopadhyay as an astute director, actor and as a drama professor par excellence. In golpodadu.com, we got a chance to discover an unknown facet of his immense talent - the master storyteller Dwijen. His sudden demise on 27th September, 2017 has created a void in the golpodadu's world of Harshabardhan and Gobardhan, which will be difficult to fill.
Dwijen debuted in Bangla theatre in 1978 with Amitakshar. The eighties saw his brilliance in plays like Samabartan, Abimukh, Mallabhumi, Socrates-Er-Jabanbondi, Naak. In 1992, Dwijen founded his own theatre group Sanstab. In the same same year, he received Paschim Banga Natya Akademi award for his performance in Balidan. Theater lovers will always remember him for his stellar perfomance in plays like Ghora, Abhimukh, Dashchakra, Bhamma, Mushtijog.
